Month behind....
Hey is the featured photo like Fencecheck's (not trying to compare the two sites by the way) in where the members of the site can recommend a photo, or is just up to the mods?  If your asking for my opinion, which you might not be, i think we should do nominations and the mods pick from there.  Maybe it would help keep the featured photos up to date. 

And while i am on the subject of featured photos, this is one thing about the site that I wish would be kept up-to-date.  When it was being kept up to date I loved seeing a new great shot ever week..now we have not seen anything new for a month.  Sorry to gripe, but i know the mods listen on this site, that's what i like about APSoCal, we are not to big to where one small member like me gets overlooked.

I hear you, just been really busy.  Some ideas, to get some of the long time Mods to trade off and chose the photo if the week so its not just one or two poeple.  Or maybe a photo challenge of the month and you submit your photos and small description and the Mods vote on which one comes closest to the topic of the challenge?  Just off the top of my head, March is St Patricks day, your best or most unique green Airplane photo, or your luckest shot (we need description for this one on why you were lucky and convince us).  Chime in people... Smiley

 Whip I like the idea of a voting system of some kind if it can be done. Something like FC where all members can vote, and the most voted gets placed for the month.

I like that idea, however, who determines what and how many are eligible for the "pool" of photos that will be voted on?  And as Chris has stated, I, as well, miss the keeping up-to-date changes.  A week or two behind is understandable, but after a month or so, it feels too out of place.

I like the idea of a member wide voting system, and/or a gallery to submit photos your photos to be voted on for PO-Week/Month.

Trust me I can only imagine how much work it would be to look at EVERY photo added that week, that's why I think you should try and implement some system where your members (our peers) vote somehow on pictures.  This would sure free up time for yourself and the other mods.  All you would have to do is place the winning photo(s) on the home page.  But as many have said the problem lies in how to “implement” this.

I was thinking that already, but just wondering how to do a poll or voting.. and also some kind of photo challenge/contest....

Tweaked and organized a little.  Separated photo of the week and also added poll to choose the photo of the month.  The previous photo of the Month will be displayed at top just above the current photos of the week in a larger size.....
